Supercomputing – the key to understanding complex systems
Computers capable of high-powered calculations are a key technology, both for leading-edge research and national competitiveness. High performance computing (HPC) is an enabler of scientific discovery and the development of new modelling solutions for the extremely complex phenomena observed in areas such as environment, climate, energy, health care and finance. The Swiss federal government, the ETH Domain and the universities are rolling out a strategy for high performance computing and networking (HPCN) to form the basis for an internationally competitive Swiss supercomputing network.
